Crafting for Stella McCartney
TANORA has had the immense pleasure of working in partnership with international luxury brand Stella McCartney. Our ethical and finely finished raffia products caught the eye of the progressive high-end brand known for its focus on producing beautiful luxury items using cruelty-free alternatives to fur, leather, skins, feathers, and animal glues. With our ethos aligned, this collaboration seemed like a natural fit.
Communicating across the world, a deep dive into the process and how it would transpire began in earnest, each side committing to an exciting raffia series that would launch for a summer season with a collection of bags and footwear.
TANORA is seamlessly aligned with the Stella McCartney vision. Apart from fairtrade standards implemented for the protection of its artisans and employees, the raffia used by TANORA is harvested ethically. Hand pruned rather than stripped, this painstaking method of collection is non-disruptive and preserves the health of the tree. Everything that goes into a TANORA product is ethically sourced.
The TANORA atelier in Madagascar swung into activity for this special series, every artisan working their best effort, each item closely checked along the way for quality. This process is no different to TANORA’s own implemented method of producing its wares, making the collaboration even more compatible.
Those brilliant pieces summer launched with a series of raffia totes and the signature style Falabella, with a raffia twist. Additionally, a clog and sandal were also introduced featuring a vegan leather sole, with the raffia uppers all hand woven by TANORA.
Eagerly anticipated by the denizens of fashion and style, the raffia series was a sell-out success. Beautiful artisan-made bags and chic, cruelty free summer footwear accompanied by an eco-friendly tagline evoked a strong appeal.
TANORA thoughtfully joins with like-minded collaborators and looks to future projects and partnerships aligned by a shared commitment of leaving a positive impact on the environment.
