The Madagascar Atelier
07/05/2026

In 2025, Tanora opened the doors to our new atelier in Madagascar, a space built entirely around the artisans who bring our designs to life. For us, this was more than a milestone. It was a commitment — to our makers, to the craft, and to ensuring that the hands behind every Tanora piece work in a space that truly honours them.

Bright, open, and flooded with natural light, every detail has been considered. White walls, high ceilings, timber workbenches, and handcrafted raffia pendant lights overhead. A workspace that reflects the quality of what is made within it.

This is where our skilled artisans work daily, handcrafting each Tanora piece in small batches using only the finest sustainably sourced raffia. Many carry generations of weaving and crocheting knowledge, and the atelier gives them the environment and infrastructure to do their best work.

It is also a place of learning. In the spirit of our name, Tanora meaning "youth" in Malagasy, the atelier employs and supports the next generation of Malagasy artisans, ensuring the craft is passed on.
